Unread post Barrel loose?
Hi all,

Finally picked up my HW100s, and I have to say it's everything i'd hoped it would be, except...

It's second hand (new was just a little too much at the moment, and iv'e been waiting for one to come up for quite a while) so I was checking it out, making sure everything was tight etc, and as I checked the tightness of the moderator, instead of the moderator moving, the barrel moved. :? I can actually spin it all the way round and it obviously plays havoc with the zero. It's tight, but it moves.

I'm a little concerned as I wasn't expecting barrel movement. Never had it in any of my other rifles.

Please educate me good people, i'm a Weihrauch lover obviously, but I want it to be right.

Shoots nice and is in v good condition.

Thanks and ATB

Bob

Hi Bob,

Take the cylinder out and the stock off, them if you line up the serial number to face up when the actions on its side, it should get you back to where it needs to be. There is a grub screw that sits between the main valve where the cylinder attaches and the barrel. Just nip it back up again once your aligned. It's a common event sadly, and one that only really happens when we go to remove the moderator.

Digger.

you can stick a bit of rubber/o ring bit in the hole to stop it from turning. that is after you remove the single screw holding the barrel in place.

if you have a bent barrel you can rotate it to shoot it "up" instead of left or right, which is a read big issue with fixed transferport guns where the transferport is through the barrel.

hw100 does not have this problem.

Thank you both for your very quick help.

Put my mind at ease and I shall `get amongst it` tomorrow and hopefully rectify the issue.

Cheers and ATB

Bob

This is a great idea, worth doing in any case, i call it (rolling the barrel) if you decide to do it ,just ask for advice if needed.

Hi,

Finally got a window to look at this issue tomorrow. The cylinder has about 180 bar in it. Can I take it out with this air in it, or do I need to dump it first?

Also, on turning the barrel and firing a pellet repeatedly at 20m, repeated shots see the pellet following a very large circle on my pellet backstop. (does this make sense?) I assume this means the barrel isn't exactly straight, or is this to be expected?

Thanks for your help everyone,

Bob

Firstly yes you can remove the cylinder with whatever air you have in it ,.secondly , the circle you describe is perfect , set barrel to 12o,clock. Done

Eh up,

Got amongst it today and the grub screw was a little loose. Lined the serial number up with the left hand side of the rifle and nipped it up.

Then I noticed a strange thing whilst zeroing and carrying out pellet tests. You know how you can see the pellet as it travels to the target sometimes? Well it looked like it was looping from left to right. Almost as if it was suffering from a strong left to right sidewind (I was indoors). Should I have then ignored the serial number alignment and nipped the barrel up when the pellet was either landing at 12 o clock or 6 o clock? Was it an optical illusion? I don't know the rifles history as it was second hand, but it's in nice condition overall.

Thank you all,

Bob

as said set to 12,, but now you have to loosen the grubscrew everytime you shoot , this should give you a true reading of where its shooting , obviously this means removing the cylinder everytime.,note barrel taped an numbered.do not alter scope an shoot at the same spot everytime, when finnished then mess with scope, should then be a lazer, lol.
